More on Lent…

So, funny story, after I decided to start having daily devotions and pray about what God wanted (if anything) me to give up for Lent, my husband came home from work and I commented about finding out that it was Ash Wednesday (thanks again facebook). Now, I’d had this thought to give up TV…but it’s one of those things that my husband and I do together when we’re both tired from a long day and don’t really want to DO anything. Neither of us watch it alone, and if I gave it up he’d probably be nice and just not watch any until I can keep going with him…but I didn’t know if he even wanted to anything so I just didn’t say anything… other than it was Ash Wednesday. He was like, yeah I’ve been thinking about it. I asked if he wanted to do anything for it. And guess what he said? He wanted to give up TV. haaaaa. Guess God had that one covered :P. So that’s what I’m doing for lent. Sorry Castle… guess we’ll see you maybe on the other side!

Lent is Here

I discovered this morning was Ash Wednesday. Funny. I had no idea this time of year was already here. I had hoped this year to have a little more warning and to have time to think and pray about it and see if God wants me to do anything this year. This happens every year. I realize it’s lent waaay after it’s too late to do the whole 40 day thing. Yay facebook and people letting me know today’s the first day. So, today I’ve been thinking about my life, and God and how everything’s going…to see what would be best to give up or change. Well… unfortunately, I haven’t been spending anywhere near enough time with God to even have an inkling of how my spiritual life is going. 😦 Sorry God… I thought I was making you a priority in my life and realized that somewhere along the way you completely took backseat without my even realizing it. Not good.

Soooo Lent:
1st thing I’m going to change is I am GOING to spend time with God every day for the next 40 days. I signed up for a couple things on Bible Gateway so they’ll email me some Lent-related passages and stuff. That will help me get back into reading my Bible and focus on what this time of year is all about.

2nd… well… that’s to come. Depends on what happens when I start reading my Bible again. :/ Might give up some of my social media and what not… I’d love to give up my computer buuuuuuut I kinda need it for tons of stuff, all my lists to do are on here, sometimes my devos are on here, my budget, what I plan to make for every day this week food wise is on here… yeah, it’d be very un-helpful to give up my computer… unfortunately. But, we shall see what is to come.

3rd–praying. I need to start praying “on paper” again. So, here goes. God, my father, who is in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done, on earth (and here in my life) as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who have sinned against us. Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
